A steam train of the North Norfolk Railway passes through the course. View over the 11th green.

The Course

"It was on the old 17th green, set close to the railway fence that Miss Wethered laid a long putt dead to make certain of her first championship, studying the line with such intensity of concentration as to be completely oblivious of the 4.20 train out of Sheringham rattling past behind her."

(excerpt from the Official Handbook)

Sheringham Golf Club was formed in 1891 as a nine hole course, which was extended in 1898 to a full eighteen holes.

The course is laid out on the west side of the town on a strip of rolling, gorse-clad clifftop that lies between the preserved North Norfolk Railway and the North Sea.

Noted for its long par 4 holes it is a severe test of players' ability, especially when the wind blows!
