Coronavirus and Sheringham Golf Club
Following on from the Prime Minister’s statement of 23rd March, golf clubs and golf courses in England must now close.
This is deeply regrettable, but highly necessary and responsible course of action must be implemented with immediate effect and be maintained until further notice.
Keeping golf courses open is simply no longer compatible with the updated policy of government which is designed to save lives in a time of national emergency.
The health and wellbeing of our Members and staff is paramount.
Following information from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) - “For security and essential maintenance reasons greens staff can still attend work”
As a golf club, our golf course is our main asset; without the golf course, there is no golf club.
For the long-term survival of the business, it is essential that a small, but key amount of maintenance continues to be carried out to the golf course by a small group of key staff members.
These staff members are working outdoors and in complete isolation on a piece of private land and therefore present no risk to compromising the Coronavirus control measures.
