Temporary Rules

Preferred Lies          Temporary Rule - Tractor Marks and Works

Standing Rules – effective 1 January 2019

 1. OUT OF BOUNDS – Rule 18.2

 The boundaries of the course are defined by:

 (a) The course-side edge of: (i) the fences, white posts and white lines alongside holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7, (ii) the fences alongside holes 15, 16, 17 & 18 and (iii) all other boundary fences; and,

 (b) The course-side edge of the white posts and white lines alongside Sweetbriar Lane (the Club’s access road) and around the practice putting greens, flag pole area, clubhouse and green-keeping sheds.

 When Out of Bounds players should proceed under Rule 18.2b.

 2. MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS – Rule 15.2

 Fairway distance marker posts, movable tee markers, rake stands and all other movable posts and signage on the course are Movable Obstructions.

 When applicable, relief may be taken under Rule 15.2a or Rule 15.2b.

 3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS – Rule 16.1

 (a) Artificial bunker facings are Integral Objects (and are not Immovable Obstructions).

 (b) The following are Immovable Obstructions:

 (i) artificial paths (including rubber matting paths), shelters, huts, buildings and steps;

 (ii) fixed marker posts and discs, fixed sprinkler heads and hydrant boxes and fixed tee markers; and,

 (iii) all other fixed artificial constructions on the course.

 When Rule 16.1a applies relief may be taken under Rule 16.1b.

 4. WHITE LINE GUR – OPTIONAL  RELIEF – Rule 16.1

 Areas encircled by a WHITE LINE are Ground Under Repair from which relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.

 When Rule 16.1a applies:

 (i) relief may be taken under Rule 16.1b, or

 (ii) as an extra option, where one or more nearby dropping zones are marked out, by dropping the ball or another ball no nearer the hole in the nearest available dropping zone for that purpose in accordance with Rule 14.3.

 5. BLUE LINE GUR AND STAKED OR WIRED TREES & SHRUBS – COMPULSORY RELIEF – Rule 16.1

  The following are Ground Under Repair and No Play Zones:

  (a) Areas encircled by a BLUE LINE (including marked plantation areas); and,

  (b) Trees and shrubs which are staked or wired and any attached stake or wire.

 Where there is interference (as defined by Rule 16.1a) from any such area or from any such tree, shrub, stake or wire the ball MUST be lifted and relief MUST be taken:

 (i) by taking relief under Rule 16.1f, or

 (ii) as an extra option, where one or more nearby dropping zones are marked out, by dropping the ball or another ball no nearer the hole in the nearest available dropping zone for that purpose in accordance with Rule 14.3.

 Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of any Local Rule (including any Temporary Local Rule): General Penalty under Rule 14.7a.
